Welcome to Mrs. Flomer’s class notes!

Here’s a look at what we will be doing this week!

Spelling- The new words for this week are: play, grain, sail, mail, may, rain, way, day, stay, pain, first, right, your, these. The children will write their 10 spelling words 3x each by Tuesday. They should write 8 sentences by Thursday. The spelling test will be on Thursday. Please remind your child to use at least five words in each sentence.

Phonics- ai, ay words; contractions ‘ll and ‘d

Language Arts- names of months, days, holidays

Reading: We will read the story Where Does Food Come From? The children will read it again at home. The reading tests will be on Thursday. The children should focus on what the pictures in the story are telling the reader. Both concepts in phonics will be tested (ai, ay words and contractions with ‘ll and ‘d). Make sure that your child is reading the daily decodable readers fluently each night.

Math- chapter 8 (addition strategies)

Social Studies- exploration: Columbus

Weekly reader- Dr. Seuss

1AA News

There is no school for the children on Friday (3/8) as the teachers will be have a professional development day. The spelling and reading tests will be given on Thursday this week. If there is by some chance a snow day on Monday, the spelling and reading tests will not be given until the following Monday (3/11).

We had a wonderful 100th day of school last Friday! We did many activities, and enjoyed singing and dancing with our special visitor. Thank you to all who baked cookies for the occasion!

The Scholastic book fair is coming to Trinity this week. Our class will visit the book fair on Tuesday, if you would like to send your child to school with money to buy a book.
