I hope everyone had a great Winter Recess! Here’s a look at what we will be doing this week.
Spelling- The new words for this week are: me, be, these, read, feet, tree, keep, eat, mean, sea, about, could, maybe, there. The spelling test will be on Friday. The children will write their 14 spelling words 3x each by Tuesday, 2/26. They should write 8 sentences by Thursday, 2/28. The spelling test will be on Friday 3/1.
Phonics- long e: ea, ee, e_e; -ink
Language Arts- compound sentences
Writing- Narrative writing: sentences about themselves
Reading: The story this week is The Big Trip. Please have your child read it at home before the test. The focus will be on what the characters say and how they feel in the story, and how the characters are the same and different. The “R” book words are: about, by, car, could, don’t, maybe, sure, there. The reading tests will be given on Friday.
Math- Chapter 7 test on Wednesday-practice test on Tuesday
Social Studies- book 3- Life Long Ago
Religion- Jesus’ miracles

Welcome back from Winter Break!
Thank you to those who sent in extra pencils and glue sticks. The children go through them so quickly!
Thank you also to our class moms and those who sent in goodies for our Valentines Day snack. The children had a great time exchanging Valentines with each other!
We will be celebrating the 100th Day of school this Friday! We will have a special singing guest, and we have lots of fun things planned for this day! A memo will go home on Monday to explain what your child needs.
We will also celebrate “Read Across America” in honor of Dr. Seuss’s birthday. If your child has any Dr. Seuss books at home, he/she may bring them in to share this week.
