Dear Parents,

We had a great week learning and celebrating Sumair, Ethan and Elyssa’s birthdays.

This week we will be learning about the color black, the number 8 and octagons. We will also begin exploring the letter Ee and words that begin with that letter. In art, we will be making a corn project. We will also begin working on a collaborative art project with the other Pre-K classes to make a pumpkin with watercolor feathers. Please look out for the upcoming display in the hallway.

This week we will be having a pumpkin party on Wednesday, October 31st. Thank you to all the parents who volunteered to bring in items for our celebration. We appreciate your generosity and your commitment to our class. No costumes please, but the children can wear orange and/or black.

We will be reading “The Peter Pumpkin Story,” and carving a pumpkin to see what’s inside. We will also be learning about all kinds of families through reading books such as: “You and Me Together: Moms, Dads, and Kids Throughout the World” and “We are All Alike…We are All Different”.

In math, we will be sorting and describing objects and shapes and reviewing counting objects.

We continue to practice writing our names independently throughout the day on all of our work. In addition, each day we are practicing identifying our own names during circle time.

I will be sending homework packets out on Monday which will be due by Friday.
