This week we continue our literacy unit on family. Our topic this week is “We take care of each other”. We will read Mama Zooms, Too Many Tamales, and My Day from A to Z. Our vocabulary this week will be caring, cousins, feelings, and love.

We will learn about the letter Dd this week and read the story If You Give a Dog a Donut by Laura Numeroff, make a D is for Donut art project, sing a silly Dd song, read about “Ditto Dog”, and have a special donut treat at the end of the week.

For math this week we will focus on measurement. We will also review the number 6, the color purple, and the shape rhombus (diamond). We will mix red and blue play dough to create purple. We will read Harold and the Purple Crayon by Crockett Johnson and create our own purple adventures.

Our seasonal lessons will consist of bats and spiders this week as we get closer to Halloween and learn how spiders and bats are really not scary at all! We will marble paint spider webs and make rhombus shaped bats.

During Jesus time we will continue to learn about Abraham and about the many blessings he received from his obedience to God.
