Week 5
“Don’t just fly, soar.” – Walt Disney
The Third and Fourth graders had a wonderful trip to Fire Island! Even though the weather was cloudy, everyone had a great time. The students were wonderful, and I received lots of complements about how well behaved they were. A special thank you to all our chaperones!
A few reminders: The last day of uniform shorts is Friday, and no school next Monday because of Columbus Day.
Math: We are having our Chapter 1 test on Tuesday. Then on Wednesday we will begin our chapter on representing and interpreting data. Additionally, students should be practicing their math facts. I encourage all to use XTRAMATH.com. If you need help logging in, please let me know.
ELA: We are reading Pop’s Bridge and discussing why is everyone’s role on a project important. We will focus on the target skills compare and contrast and story structure, and the target strategy infer/predict. In grammar we are learning about proper and common nouns. Our target vocabulary words are crew, tide, cling, balancing, foggy, disappear, stretch, and excitement. Our spelling words are load, open, told, yellow, soak, shadow, foam, follow, glow, sold, window, coach, almost, throat, cold, most, tomorrow, and sailboats. We are going to have grammar and spelling tests only on Friday. I will not be testing comprehension and vocabulary this week.
