We are off to a great start in 4th grade!  The students and I had several discussions during the first week of school about making our classroom a positive learning environment.  We are all ready to share the responsibility and work hard this year.

Below you will find some information about what we will be doing this week.

WEEK: September 10 – 14

SPELLING: blade, gray, past, afraid, magic, delay, amaze, drain, maybe, break, sale, hang, stain, glass, raft, jail, crayon, fact, stale, steak.  CHALLENGE WORDS: fraction, trait, champion, activity, graceful

READING: We are reading the novel, Because of Winn Dixie, by Kate DiCamillo

GRAMMAR: simple subjects/predicates; complete subjects/predicates; compound subjects/predicates

MATH: modeling place value, reading and writing numbers, comparing, ordering, and rounding numbers

SOCIAL STUDIES: Chapter 1, Lesson 1 New York’s Regions; Lesson 2 Rivers and Lakes

RELIGION: creation story; “Dear God” letters

TESTS this week:

  • Friday – Spelling
