Week 30
It was wonderful seeing so many of you at WINGO. It was a great event and a lot of money was raised for our school. Thank you to everyone who donated to the Third Grade’s Slime Basket (pictures attached). We are especially grateful to all our volunteers who made this such a success. If you didn’t get a chance to attend this year, I encourage you to get a ticket to next year’s event. It is lots of family fun, and there are prizes galore!
Scholastic book order forms are due back on Tuesday, April 17th. You can place online orders here. Our class code is GZBYH.
“Stuffed” animal reports and self-assessments are due on Monday, April 16th. If you have misplaced the paper, I have attached a copy here
As previously mentioned, the students now have access to Journeys, Go Math and Science. If you need help logging in from home, please contact me and I will send you the specific information.
Students who take instrument lessons need to remember to bring their instruments to school for both lessons and orchestra (2 times a week).
Mr. DeVries has begun rehearsing lines with the children for the K-3 Spring Musical. The date for the show is Tuesday, May 22nd. Make sure you mark your calendar.
On Monday I am sending home the permission slip for our class trip to Safety Town. Please make sure that the permission slip is returned by Friday. There is no cost for this trip.
Terra Nova Tests
This week we are taking the Terra Nova tests. Please make sure that your child gets a good night’s sleep and a healthy breakfast each day. Additionally, your child needs to have #2 pencils and erasers for the test. Please encourage your child to try his/her best.
Math
We will be having our Chapter 9 test on Tuesday, April 17th.
ELA
We are finishing up Love that Dog by Sharon Creech, and then we will read Hate that Cat by Sharon Creech.
Science
Make sure you check out the picture of the goose eggs outside We are studying how scientists track animals using GPS devices. We are focusing on the life cycle of animals using a timeline. Don’t forget “Stuffed” animal project is due on Monday, April 16th.
Social Studies
We are continuing to learn about the history of South Africa. We are not being tested on this lesson, but students will be writing summary paragraph on each section.
Religion
Our religion memory this week is from 1 Peter 4:8 Love covers over a multitude of sin.
