It’s the end of January, already?! Now that we have made it through midterms, we are getting back to our normal schedule of events and lessons. Here are the plans for this week.

7th Social Studies

In seventh grade, we have finally made it to the Revolutionary War. This week we will be focusing on the Declaration of Independence and the critical battles of the Middle States, especially the Battle of Saratoga. The next test will not be for a few weeks.

8th Social Studies

Eighth grade has now started to study how the United States became a global “super power,” for better or for worse. This week we will be studying the causes and long term effects of the Spanish American War. The students will also complete an activity about truth in journalism and how it can change the course of a nation- once again, for better or for worse.

8th Religion

I like to call this week in religion class, “All Star Week.” We will be studying the well-known lives of Gideon, Samson, and Ruth. The memory verse for Wednesday’s quiz is Isaiah 6:8, which is found on page 57 in the student book.
