Greetings and welcome back for a new week. Here are the updates for this week.

7th Social Studies

This week we are continuing to study the founding of the first 13 English colonies. In addition to the regular curriculum, we are reading about the true story of the Salem Witch Trials, basically bullying going out of control, and completing an activity on the geography of the three regions of the colonies.

8th Social Studies

This week we are focusing on the growth of the cattle industry in the west, as well as the settlers who moved west to farm and build homesteads. Fun fact, the driving force behind the growth of the cattle industry was the demand for beef in the east, particularly in New York City steak houses. Throughout the entire chapter, we are talking about how the growth of each of the industries affected the Native Americans who were living on the land that was being developed and farmed.

8th Religion

The students are presenting their Tough Times Toolkit projects on Monday. Next, we will be studying the journey of the Israelites out of slavery and into the Promised Land. The memory quiz this week is on Romans 8:28, which can be found here. The quiz is on Wednesday.
