On Wednesday, we are go to Hofstra’s Art Museum as part of our Art Traveler’s program. Please make sure that your child brings a bagged lunch to school.
The children have begun working on the Spring Musical. Mr. DeVries has assigned parts, and the children have been practicing in school. The date of the musical has been changed to Tuesday, May 23rd. Please make sure to note the change of date on your calendar.
In ELA this week we are reading “Two Bear Cubs”. We are working on character, setting and plot. The spelling words are mood, wooden, drew, smooth, blue, balloon, true, crooked, chew, tooth, hooves, cool, food, pooch, blew, foot, loose, and jewel.
We are also working in our vocabulary books this week. Unit 6 is due on Friday. The children will have plenty of opportunities to complete the pages at school (if they are working to the best of their abilities). I will be sending the book home each night to help with pacing.
Handwriting workbook will also be going home for some students each night to practice in. Some students are finished or almost finished their handwriting book. Those children know who they are, and they should complete their spelling homework in cursive.
In Math, we are continuing to work on fractions. We are having our chapter test on Friday. There is also rocket math homework each night this week (except Friday).
In Science, we are working on how living things interact and food chains. Most children have selected their animal for our research report. We will begin working on the report this week during school.
In Social Studies, we are studying working in South Africa.
In Religion, we are covering how God is with us always. We have a test on 1 Peter 4:8.
