Happy New Year!

I hope all of the 4th grade families had a wonderful holiday and enjoyed the vacation week.

As we return to school to finish the second marking quarter, we will begin a fresh start in all of our academic subject areas.  Additionally we will be reading a chapter book that the students may bring home at times to answer questions about.  This will be a new component to our reading program.  I will read 1-2 chapters aloud in class and they may reread them to answer questions, enhance vocabulary, and do summarizing activities.

Week: January 2-6

Reading:  The Family Under the Bridge, by Natalie Savage Carlson

Writing: persuasive letters

Math:  factors; common factors

Science: Chapter 9, Lesson 1 How does Earth’s surface wear away?; Lesson 2 How do weathered materials move?

Social Studies:  Chapter 5, Lesson 1 Trouble in the colonies

Important Notes:

  • In the event of inclement weather when students may need to wear boots and/or extra sweaters to school, please be sure they have the proper school attire to put on when they arrive at school.
  • Math extra help will resume next week, 1/11/17.
