Greetings! Before we get into the academic announcements for the week, I have a few reminders for my homeroom. First, the Christmas Concert is Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. and I do hope you will join us for the concert. Also, this Sunday, December 11th, the eighth grade families are hosting a coffee hour and pancake breakfast between the services to raise money for the end of year activities. A flier was sent home on Friday, but if you have any questions, please contact one of the eighth grade class parents.

7th Social Studies

This week the students will continue to learn about how the colonists lived during the 17th and 18th centuries. They will especially focus on the social groups within the regions of the colonies, and will then learn about the tragedies of the slave trade and the unfortunate spread of slavery in the American colonies. While slavery was abolished 150 years ago, according to the A21 Campaign, there is more slavery int eh world than ever before. Prayerfully others will realize the evils of this system.

8th Social Studies

This week the eighth grade will be preparing to take the test on chapter 18, on Thursday, December 8th. The study guide may be viewed here. The next topic pf study will be the reforms of the Progressive Era.

8th Religion

This week the students will finish Unit 2 with studying the lessons to be learned from the Battle of Jericho. They will take their test on Unit 2 on Tuesday, December 13th. The study guide may be viewed here. Their 2nd quarter project, Design a House of Worship, is due next Friday, December 16th. The memory verse for this week is 1 Peter 5:6-7, which can be found on page 51 in the student book.
