Social Studies – Our unit on the Farm continues with Cows and Horses this week.
Non-fiction book is TRUE BOOK OF FARM ANIMALS
Other books include: TWO COOL COWS, THE BIG RED BARN, and A HORSE IN HARRY’S
ROOM.
We saw the filmstrip “On Rainbow Farm” and will view the video “Farmer John”.
Science – We have completed our lessons on Bats with the viewing of “Franklin’s Night Visitor”.
Now we are beginning to take a look at pumpkins and their life-cycle and then compare it to the apple tree’s life cycle. We used a big book by Zoe Hall entitled IT’ PUMPKIN TIME’.
Math – This week the numeral 7 has come up and we used some assorted number books to practice it.
We are still working on our shapes and colors.
Art – With Halloween fast approaching we painted our pumpkins with special acrylic paint.
Language Arts – Our theme is “Friends. We read the big book, WHERE IS BUNNY?” and learned about what comes first, second, third, etc and then what comes last. We’re continuing with our letter and sound recognition as well as doing lots and lots of puzzles with all their configurations.
Music – Singing: Our praise songs; Instruments: maracas, rhythm sticks, triangles; Movement: The Saints, Pumpkin Pumpkin, and the Spooky Walk.
Computer – We’re using our mouse to design many different types of jack-o-lanterns
