READING- The essential question for this week is, “:How do tools help us do things with our hands?” To help us answer the question we will read, The Little Red Hen, The Handiest Things in the World, and Stone Soup. Addionally we will learn to identify the “s” sound at the beginning of a word, review the “m” sound and high frequency words “I,” “like,” “the,” and “and.” We will continue to identify nouns and verbs in a sentence, and name words that are synonyms and antonyms. Next Thursday, November 3rd students will have their first reading test. An information sheet will be sent home to help your child prepare.

MATH- This week the class will learn numbers 7 and 8 and how to count, write and model them. When modeling numbers the student is asked to discover different ways of using red and yellow counters to form sets that will, when combined, add up to the given number.

RELIGION- Our next Bible story is the story of Abraham and how God blesses families.

SCIENCE- Learning the stages of pumpkin growth, and about things that “sink” and “float” will be our lessons this week.

JOURNAL- We’ll write and draw a picture about our trip to the pumpkin farm.
