This week we are exploring the color yellow.   During morning center time, we are playing with yellow blocks, yellow playdough, yellow math games and yellow kitchen food.  In addition, we are playing color games on the smart table.  We will create a circle diagram of all the things we can think of that are yellow.  On Thursday and Friday we will celebrate the color yellow with a special snack – lemon bars – which we are mixing and measuring and baking ourselves from scratch.

In conjunction with yellow week, we are also reading a few books from the “Curious George” series.  We will go on a hunt for Curious George ending in a delicious snack of yellow bananas for the class.  This week our fingerplays are inspired by the fall season and include, “Five Little Pumpkins”, “Leaves Are Falling”, “Yellow Poem” and “Turning, Turning, Turning”.

Wednesday, October 12th we will meet at White Post Farms in Melville for our class trip to the pumpkin farm.  We will meet up at the entrance to the farm in the parking lot at 9:15 a.m.

We are looking forward to another fun filled week in nursery school!
