Greetings in the name of the Lord Jesus, our children’s best friend!
It is hard to believe that one month of school has already passed. Please be assured that your children are settling into their daily routines quite well.
JESUS’ TIME: We are concluding our lessons on the Creation of the World, stressing how good our wonderful God truly is; how he made us and all things.
MATH: We have been graphing our choices of apples and pumpkins. Our number this week is numeral 4–our age in Pre-K and we are continuing our review of the shapes.
SOCIAL STUDIES: With the Columbus Day holiday next Monday–we will be reading stories about Columbus, singing songs, and playing games about this great explorer. Even our paintings will exhibit his ships.
LITERATURE: Eric Carle is our first author of this year. We have already read: HEAD TO TOE, WILL YOU BE MY FRIEND?, BROWN BEAR BROWN BEAR, and BABY BEAR BABY BEAR. All are coordinated with our other lessons.
SCIENCE: Our field trip to the pumpkin farm is this week. We will be going the Green Meadow Farm to ride a pony, milk a cow, go on a hayride, learn about farm animals, and of course get a pumpkin.
ART: Painting at the easel has been wonderful. This week there will be 3 shades of blue. It is amazing to see the children’s work develop from a big mass of paint to actual pictures. Please look at our wonderful hallways of red, yellow, and green. In Art Class with Mrs. Kerwin we completed our three weeks concentration on Monet’s Water Lilies.
LETTERS AND SOUNDS: Our daily morning message has been reinforcing the days of the week and our greetings to one another as well as the names of each of our classmates.
GROSS MOTOR: With the wonderful weather we have been having, our outdoor play has been great! When indoors we have used our playground balls as well as the frisbees. Using music and games we continue to reinforce walking, marching, and jumping to the rhythms and beats.
As October looms ahead—we will be cooking, baking, as well as working on our farm unit and science experiments.
Upcoming Events–Back to School Night – Tuesday, October 4 at 7pm and Columbus Day – October 10.
May our Lord rest His hand gently upon you all now and always!
