READING – Our essential question is, “Why do we have rules at school?” To help us answer this question we will read and discuss the following stories, Friends at School, How Do Dinosaurs Go to School? My School Bus, We Go to School and I Like. In addtion, the students will read the high frequency word, “like,” identify beginning sounds that are the same, review the letters, P-p, Q-q, R-r, S-s, and T-t, learn to recognize the author’s purpose, identify nouns for places, use antonyms, (words that are opposites), makes inferences and predictions, pause for punctuation, and practice writing their names correctly. You can help by discussing the importance of rules and the rules you have at home. Continue to read with your child at home and have your child point to the words “I” and “like” if they appear in the material you are reading together.
