Greetings! I hope everyone is enjoying the crisp fall weather that has finally arrived. The arrival of fall also means that school picture day is coming. My homeroom, 8AA will have their pictures taken on Tuesday, October 4th. The order forms went home a few weeks ago, but if you need a new form, please let us know.

7th Social Studies

This week seventh grade will continue studying European exploration of North and South America, specifically focusing on the Spanish conquistadors. We will also engage in a class debate as to whether or not Columbus Day should be a holiday. We will also begin looking at The Light in the Forest by Conrad Richter. Please get a copy of the book for your child by this Friday, October 7th.

8th Social Studies

This week we will continue looking at the issues the nation faced following the Civil War and how the various Reconstruction plans sought to resolve these issues..On Friday, October 7th, we will begin looking at Chasing Lincoln’s Killers by James L. Swanson. Please get a copy of the book for your child by this Friday, October 7th.

8th Religion

We are continuing the study the legacy of Abraham and Isaac in class, and the students will also receive the guidelines for their First Quarter Project. You may view the guidelines here. The memory verse for this week is Jeremiah 29:11, found on page 21 of the student book.
