2016 Doodle4Google Art Contest:  Optional Art Contest for students in Gr. K-12  ~  Students are invited to create a doodle that tells the world “What I see for the future.”  Each doodle must incorporate the letters G-o-o-g-l-e.  One national winner will also receive a $30,000 college scholarship.  The winner’s artwork will be featured on the Google homepage.  The contest is open for entries from September 14, 2016 to December 2, 2016.  All students are encouraged to visit the website at https://doodles.google.com/d4g and follow the directions for mailing in your entry.  Parents:  the Classroom Activities Section is very helpful in getting students to brainstorm ideas about the theme.  Good luck to all!

Please remember to bring in a smock or old shirt to leave in school when needed A.S.A.P..

Also…all student contracts should be brought in signed by a parent with email address no later than this week.

ECC4/5  Classes learned about the art room and the artist Claude Monet.  They are creating Mr. Monet’s Lily Pond with paint and paper….coming home shortly!

KA:  learned about how artists see the seasons and the students are working on a Fall Collage

1AA: students read the book Rainbow Fish and created their own rainbow fish with craypas and paint

2AA:  students are drawing an animal from a bible story

3AA:  learned about author/illustrator/artist Faith Ringgold and now they are coloring their Favorite Family Memory

4A:  learned about the life of artist Norman Rockwell and are finishing their drawings of an Everyday Activity

5A:  will be finishing up their Transformational Drawings of a Shoe Changed Into What???

6AA:  students will be Falling for Foreshortening as they illustrate a person falling down from something

7A/7AA:  students are creating a tissue paper collage

8A/8AA:  classes learned about the artist Pablo Picasso and his style of using simple shapes, strong colors and shadows as well as textures   ~  finishing up a still life sketch resulting in a Picasso Texture & Paint Collage

Elective:  students learned about artist Naum Gabo’s Kinetic Abstract Sculptures and have started construction building their own sculpture out of cardboard
