The 4th grade is off and running on our way to a great school year!  Last week the students took some Math and Language Arts assessments.  These are not graded exams, but will serve as a benchmark for recording their progress throughout the year 

This week we are on to our regular lessons in each academic subject!

Week:  September 12-16

Spelling: blade, gray, past, afraid, magic, delay, amaze, drain, maybe, break, sale, hang, stain, glass, raft, jail, crayon, fact, stale, steak Challenge Words: fraction, trait, champion, activity, graceful

Grammar: simple subjects & predicates; compound subjects & predicates

Reading: Because of Winn Dixie by Kate DiCamillo; Vocabulary:  comfort, mention, mood, properly, intends, consisted, positive, advanced, peculiar, talent

Writing: Narrative writing – descriptive paragraphs

Math: place value; reading & writing numbers; comparing & ordering numbers; rounding numbers

Science:   Chapter 5, Lesson 1 What are the skeletal and muscular systems?

Social Studies:  Chapter 1, Lesson 1 New York’s Regions

Religion: daily devotions, weekly Dear God letters

TESTS THIS WEEK:

  • Friday – Spelling, Grammar
