READING- Our essential question this week is, “How do animals use their different body parts?” To help us answer the question we will read A Zebra’s World and What Do You Do With a Tail Like This?  The students will also explore the use of context clues and author’s purpose. Our high frequency words are, “you” and “what” and we will continue to decode new words. The initial “f” and short “i” as well as medial short “i” sounds will be taught and used to practice blending. In grammer the students will identify a complete sentence and practice capitalization and punctuation when writing sentences. Continue to practice reading fluency in the Readers that will be sent home at the end of the week.

MATH- Our class has been learning to show subtraction as “taking from” and “taking apart.” We are also using objects, drawings and the strategy “act it out,” to solve subtraction story problems.

RELIGION- The Bible story is “Jesus Turns Water into Wine,” which is Jesus’ first miracle.

SOCIAL STUDIES- Our focus is on Presidents, with an emphasis on George Washington and Abraham Lincoln.

SCIENCE- As part of our study of animals the students are working in groups to create a poster with information on an animal of each groups choosing. Each day we meet in our groups to work towards our goal.

JOURNAL/WRITING- We will write complete sentnces using appropriate capitalization and punctuation.
