This week in nursery school we are getting ready for Valentine’s Day. We painted red and white at the easel to make hearts for Valentine’s cards for our special family members. We also did Do-A-Dots for the letter H and made handprint hearts for the letter H. Some other art projects this week were water colors to make a mitten for our Good Friend Tree, and making a cherry tree for president’s day.

Some of the books we read this week include Valentine’s Day Grump by Rose Greydanus, The Day it Rained Hearts by Felicia Bond, A Book of Hugs by Dave Ross, Mouse’s First Valentine by Lauren Thompson, and The Best Thing About Valentines by Eleanor Hudson. We have learned what the author and what the illustrator does, and who the characters and the setting of each book is.

On Wednesdays, our full day nursery students take a trip to the library. Last week we read Pete the Cat Valentine’s Day is Cool by Kimberly and James Dean and this week we read Dumpy’s Valentine by Julie Andrews Edwards and Emma Walton Hamilton.

During Jesus time we have learned how much Jesus loves children and we are singing songs like “Jesus Loves the Little Children” and “Jesus Loves Me”. We also read Little Boy Jesus by Marti Beuschlein.

We have a fun new song that we learned for Valentine’s Day called “Pass the Heart Around”, and we also learned all of the months of the year by singing our new favorite song!

Please remember to wear red on Thursday and Friday!

Next week school will be closed for winter recess. Have fun!
