READING – This week we will ask, “What do animals do when the weather changes?” In the fantasy text Snow, we will read about how animals cope with winter weather. We’ll also read the informational text How Water Changes, and learn about how ice changes to water and then to gas. The stories we will read in our Readers are, I Can Nap and Tap With Me. Our high frequency words are, “my” and “with,” and we”ll identify the initial and final “n” sound in words. Additionally, the students will use details to draw conclusions about a story text, and write story sentences using exact verbs.

MATH – The class has completed our chapter on addition, and will have a test on Friday, 2/5. Study materials have been sent home.

RELIGION – The Bible story for the week is, “Jesus Chooses His Disciples.”

SOCIAL STUDIES – Our topic for discussion is types of weather and how it effects the Earth.

SCIENCE – The students will learn about the legend of the groundhog and how people believe it can “predict” the weather. We will also discuss shadows.

HANDWRITING – The letter we are practicing is capital and lower case “N-n.”
