This week in our nursery classes we are:
Language Arts: We are continuing with our hand-print alphabet. This week we are learning about letters C and D. C is for crab and D is for dog and dinosaur. We are are learning to recognize these letters and their associated sounds. Stories- What is Square? by Rebecca Dotlich, Snow Dance by Lezlie Evans, Five Little Penguins Slipping on the Ice by S. Metzger.
Math: We are continuing with our shape unit. This week we are learning about squares and reviewing circles. We are having fun recognizing shapes in our environment. We are counting snowmen and our school friends.
Science: We are observing the development of an amaryllis bulb.We are discussing the signs of the season of winter.
Technology: SMART table
Art: Continue with our shape book- circle and square. Do-A-Dot alphabet sheet ( C & D) which helps with fine motor skills development. We stamped squares and made square art picture. We also made a Mr. Square or Mrs. Square puppet.
Religion: Jesus grows as I grow. Various Jesus songs.
Indoor Gym: We are having so much fun riding the tricycles in our gym. We are using our leg muscles and learning how to steer using the handlebars.
Important upcoming dates:
Our annual World’s Finest Chocolate candy bar sale will begin on 1/22. This fundraising event will be held until 2/22. Candy is being sold by the case ( variety of 60 bars) @ $1.00 per bar. Please see your class mom or child’s teacher to pick up a case. We would appreciate if each family would be responsible to sell at least one case. Additional cases will be available to sell. A letter with more information will be forthcoming. Thank you in advance for your help with this fundraiser.
