On Wednesday, December 16th we had our Nursery classes perform some songs and finger- plays in the church for family and friends. Our Christmas program theme was Light a Candle for Jesus and Pastor Henn delivered a wonderful Christmas message about the Advent wreath. Afterward, we continued the festivities in the Youth Senior Room, where we enjoyed many delicious treats. We performed one final song called Santa’s Coming using our jungle bells and had a surprise visit from Santa who brought gifts for all the good little boys and girls!
This week in class we:
Art: We continue to make our Christmas surprises. We have been as busy as the elves, but remember that everything is top-secret! Please take a look at our mistletoes hanging in the hallway. We giggled a lot while making this art project. Can you guess why?
Language Arts: The Christmas Story, a pop up book and Christmas Trees are Special by Nancy Parent. We worked on letter recognition and memory with our alphabet chart.
Movement to Music: Walking to the ABCs and Santa’s Coming.
Outdoor recess: We are enjoying the warm weather and are happy to still be able to go out on the playground and play with the trucks and chalk.
Jesus Time: We are hearing stories about the birth of baby Jesus and learning that He is the greatest gift of all!! We prepared for our Christmas program by singing all our candle songs! Next Monday, 12/21, we will have a birthday party for Jesus during our snack time.
Math: Counting our friends and days of the month.
Important Information:
Our last day of class before the Christmas vacation will be Tuesday, 12/22/15. Christmas recess is from 12/23 to 1/1/16. We resume school on Monday , 1/4/16.
Free Speech screening is scheduled for Friday, January 8th. If your child does not attend school on that day you are welcome to bring them in for the screening. A permission slip is necessary for the screening. Please see your child’s teacher if you are in need of one.
