Welcome to Mrs. Flomer’s class notes!

Here’s a look at what we will be doing this week!

Spelling-There was a test on lesson 8 words today (Monday). The words for the next lesson are: yes, ten, let, red, bed, get. The new vocabulary (“R” book) words will be: after, read, draw, was, pictures, write. The children will write all 10 spelling words 3x each for homework by Friday. There will be a Spelling test on those words (lesson 9) next Wednesday (11/18). We will soon be writing sentences for our spelling words, now that the second quarter has begun. I will start out slowly!

Phonics- short e, blends with s

Language Arts- singular and plural nouns

Reading: We had a test on lesson 8, “A Musical Day” on Monday. We will then begin lesson 9 on Thursday. The story is “Dr. Seuss”. The tests for lesson 9 will be given on Wednesday, 11/18 (the children have no school on 11/10 and 11/11). I know it has been confusing since we have so many days off in November and the tests are on a different day each week, but we will be back to Friday tests starting the week of 11/30.

Our Star of the Week is Carson!

As the weather gets colder, please make sure your child has enough warm outerwear as we try to go out every day to give the children a chance to run around!

Please let me know if homework is taking more than 35 to 45 minutes each night. If the children focus on what they are doing and pay attention to my lessons in class, then it shouldn’t take any longer than that.

Have a great week, and feel free to email me any time with questions or concerns: [email protected]
