Happy Monday! Before I go into the class updates, I would like to remind all of you that tomorrow night is Back to School Night. We will begin in the Church at 7:00 p.m., and then you will follow an abbreviated version of your child’s schedule. A copy of the schedule will be sent home today, and I will also have extra copies of the 8AA schedule if needed.

8th Social Studies

This week the students are looking at how the Civil War affected civilians, before going into the final battles of the war. I estimate that the test on Chapter 15 will be on Thursday, October 1st. This is subject to change, so I will keep all of you posted. I will link a copy of the study guide to my class notes next week.

7th Social Studies

This week the students are finishing up Chapter 1 by looking at how and European explorers started to search for new trade routes. The test will be on Friday, September 25th. You may view the study guide here.

8th Pre-Algebra

On Friday, the students took the Module 1 quiz, so we will be continuing on to Module 2. In this section,we will be looking at the rules for positive and negative exponents, as well as how to use scientific notation.

8th Religion

In Religion this week, we are studying Abram/Abraham, who is considered to be the father of God’s people. He lived a remarkable life of faith and we can certainly learn from his example. The memory verse for this week is Ephesians 3:14-17a, which can be found here, or on page 17 of the student book. Since this is a lengthy verse, there will be a word bank. Please make sure your children are studying for their memory quizzes- this is the source of much of their overall average.
