This Week 9/15 – 9/17

KA — students will observe how different artists view the seasons as we discuss the up-coming season of fall with all its beautiful colors.  Our discussion will culminate in a lovely texture collage of a fall tree.

1AA — will continue to color in their Rainbow Fish drawing and paint a soft, watercolor wash over the fish and his ocean friends.

2AA — had a discussion about animals in bible stories then selected their favorite animal for a pencil drawing.  This week the students will enhance their drawing by adding a colorful animal habitat and/or characters from a particular bible story.

3AA — listened intently as Mrs. Perovich read the wonderful book, Tar Beach by Faith Ringgold.  They were asked to draw a favorite family memory and will add color to their picture with crayons.  Of course our pictures would not be complete without a beautiful, patterned- quilt border!

4A — was shown a power point slide lesson of American artist Norman Rockwell with a brief history of his life as well as samples of his wonderful artwork.  They have begun their drawings of An Everyday Activity in Their Life and will finish up this week by adding color with craypas.

5A — finished their shoe sketch and will use a tracing of it to create a new realistic or imaginary scene.  I can’t wait to see the outcome of this one!

6AA — enjoyed a lesson on perspective drawing and will now begin to design a room of their choice using what they have learned.  This lesson has been a favorite one for many 6th Graders.

7AA — is in the process of designing a tissue paper collage which could be a landscape or abstract piece of work.

8A/8AA — will be finishing up their Japanese Notan Design artwork and will begin a lesson on Edward Munch’s Scream painting.

ART Elective — had a lesson on the artist Kandinsky and started penciling their Hip Hop murals.  Painting will begin this week so be sure to bring an old shirt.

Keep Creating,

Mrs. E. Kerwin
