Welcome to a full week of school in 2019! We are starting back with all of our regular academic subjects and weekly exams.
As the cold and sometimes inclement weather is upon us, please be sure that your child has the appropriate school sweater, shoes, etc. in the event that they come to school bundled up and in boots.
WEEK: January 7-11
SPELLING: rising, traced, striped, slammed, dancing, striped, winning, snapping, bragging, handled, dripped, begged, dared, skipped, hitting, spotted, raced, dimmed, spinning, escaped; Challenge words: striving, urged, whipped, breathing, quizzed
READING: “The Earth Dragon Awakes”; vocabulary – trembles, wreckage, slab, possessions, tenement, crushing, rubble, debris, timbers, constructed
GRAMMAR: singular and plural possessive nouns
WRITING: Where do writers get their ideas? developing writing skills using the book, “Nothing Ever Happens on 90th Street” by Roni Schotter
MATH: factors, multiples, prime and composite numbers
SOCIAL STUDIES: Chapter 5, Lesson 1 Trouble in the Colonies; Lesson 2 Fighting in New York
SCIENCE: Unit 5 Animals
TESTS this week:
•Thursday – Memory Quiz
•Friday – Reading, Grammar, Spelling
IMPORTANT NOTES:
•There is a dress -down fundraiser day this Friday. The cost is $5 to benefit the 8th grade dance.
•Please be sure to replenish your child’s classroom supplies if you haven’t done so already.
