This Friday is Lee Denim Day. For $5.00 your child can wear jeans to school. All proceeds go to help support breast cancer research.
Additionally, all chapel offerings for September and October are targeted to the people in the Bahamas who were devastated by Hurricane Dorian
On Monday, I am sending home a letter notifying everyone that I am collecting $10 from each family for our class parties. Our first party will be a Fall Party on October 31st.
Last week we had a fun time working collaboratively completing a Swing Set STEM Challenge. The students are learning that in order to succeed they need to work together. I was very impressed by their effort.
Math: We are having our Chapter 1 test on Tuesday. Then on Wednesday we will begin our chapter on representing and interpreting data. We will continue to work on fluency across time, and then we are going to focus on skip counting.
ELA: We are reading Pop’s Bridge by Eve Bunting and discussing why everyone’s role on a project is important. We will focus on the target skills compare and contrast and story structure, and the target strategy infer/predict. In grammar we are learning about proper and common nouns. Our target vocabulary words are crew, tide, cling, balancing, foggy, disappear, stretch, and excitement. Our spelling words are load, open, told, yellow, soak, shadow, foam, follow, glow, sold, window, coach, almost, throat, cold, most, tomorrow, and sailboats. We are only having a Spelling test on Friday. I will not be testing comprehension, grammar, and vocabulary this week.
Instead of our normal Friday testing, we will be responding to the literature with a Bridge Challenge and also an art project. Please make sure that your child has liquid Elmer’s glue at school.
Religion: We are studying who is God and what is the Bible. Our second religion memory test is this week. It will be on the books of the bible.. Genesis – Esther. We have been practicing them while listening to this song .https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i7ZtWRSCH7E
