Important Information

We are off to a great start. I am truly enjoying getting to know all the students in the class. We have Back to School night at 7:00 on Tuesday night.  I am looking forward to seeing everyone and giving you all a glimpse into our day.

The children continue to amaze me. They are doing such a great job with their chromebooks.  Please make sure that your child brings her/his fully charged chromebook to school everyday. Additionally, all students should have headphones and a wireless mouse for their chromebook.

Scholastic book orders forms are being sent home this week. They are due on Tuesday, September 27th.  You can always order books online by going to Scholastic.com/readingclub  and using our classroom code GZBYH.

Me Collage information went home last week. It is due on Friday, September 30th. This is supposed to be a fun project that ties in with our beginning of the year chapter book, Judy Moody was in a Mood. Please let me know if you have any question.

Academics

Math: We are continuing to work on understanding multiplication. We have looked at making equal groups and arrays. This week we will cover number lines and bar models. The vocabulary for this chapter include equal groups, factor, multiply, product, array, and Commutative Property of Multiplication.    We are having the module test on Friday.

Religion: Our focus is on the Bible. All students need to have a Bible in class. Our prayer video this week is Love God, Love People by Danny Gokey

Social Studies: We are beginning our chapter on Our Environment. We will focus on land and water. We will be discussing the various regions of the United States. The children are also practicing their geography skill using Blooket.

Science: We are beginning our study of Animals Through Time by investigating the mystery Where Can You Find Whales in the Desert? Students will explore the idea that the rock under our feet sometimes contains fossils, and then investigate how these fossils reveal changes in habitat through time.  Our vocabulary includes quarry, fossil, polar, jungle, forest, grassland, ocean, habitats, extinct, and aquatic.
