Week 10
“Nothing will work unless you do.” – Maya Angelou
Unfortunately, due to severe winds on Thursday evening, Sagamore Hill lost power and could not accommodate us on Friday. We were notified at about 8:45, and all of us were sadden by the news. We will be rescheduling the trip. As soon as we have the information, we will let you know.
The children had a great time at our Fall Party! Thank you!
Election Day is on Tuesday. Please make sure you get out and vote!
Veteran Day is being celebrated on Monday, and we have the day off. Please remember the veterans who serve and protect our country.
Please send in a 10.75 oz. Campbell’s soup can by Wednesday for Art.
Math
We are finishing Chapter 3 and will have our test on Friday. It will cover exploring multiplication.
ELA
We are continuing to read The One and Only Ivan by Katherine Applegate.
Our spelling words for the week are itch, wreck, knee, patch, wrap, knot, watch, knife, stretch, write, knew, knock, match, wrong, know, catch, wrinkle, and knuckle. We will have a spelling test on Friday.
Writing: We are working on editing (and hopefully publishing) our personal narrative masterpieces.
Social Studies
We are learning about the branches of government. We will be focusing on Mexico and learning about the United States at the same time.
Religion
We are studying how we learn and use God’s word. We will also be learning about different tools to help us understand the Bible. The religion memory for the rest of the school year is located on the previous blog. I have also included the link here Third Grade Memory Work and due dates. Our Wednesday test is on The First Commandment and its meaning.
The First Commandment
You shall have no other gods.
What does this mean? We should fear, love, and trust in God above all things.
