Week 22

We are taking a break from our regular curriculm this week. We will be completing our ELA and Mathematics Benchmark tests. Please make sure that your child gets at good night sleep and a healthy breakfast each day.
We are spending time this week discussing Growth Mindsets. Last week we learned about growing our brain by building strong connections between neurons.This week we will be learning about positive self talk. We know that each person is capable of learning anything! Struggle and failure might be necessary, but with effort and perseverance, everyone can succeed.
Math
We are continuing our chapter 7 math with a focus on Division. We have Rocket Math homework most days in addition to our regular Practice Book homework. Please review Rocket Math papers every day. Taking the time to memorize multiplication facts in 3rd grade is so important to your child’s success in Math in future grades. Please review them nightly.
ELA
We are continuing our Read Aloud Ramona Quimby, Age 8
The students are also working on independent reading and routinely reflecting on their reading in their Reading Notebook. Reading Notebooks are due every week or at the end of their chapter book..
Science
We have planted seeds and will be measuring their growth.
Social Studies
On Wednesday, we are having a test on Canada’s Government (Pages 68 – 71 in our text book). We have created indexes cards to study vocabulary (federal, parliament, and prime minister). We have created accordian foldables to study the steps towards independence for Canada. We are having a take home review quiz on Monday that I will grade and return on Tuesday. The test is on Wednesday.
Religion
The religion test will be on the THURSDAY this week (because of the Social Studies test). I have also included the link here for Third Grade Memory Work and due dates. Our Thursday test is on The 6th Commandment.
