“Never interrupt someone doing what you said couldn’t be done.” – Amelia Earhart

I hope everyone had a wonderful Winter Break. The children did a fantastic job on their state/country books. It was great learning about New York, Haiti, Connecticut, and Great Britain. The children enjoyed presenting their work to their classmates.

In class, this past month, the children created reports on famous African Americans, and each day we studied a different person. Some of the people we learned about included Beyonce, George Washington Carver, Harriet Tubman, Martin Luther King, and Jackie Robinson.

Wednesday, March 2, is Read Across America Day. Children should dress as their favorite book character, and they will read a passage from their book to the class.  Students can also bring in a pillow or stuffed animal to snuggle up and read with.

Just a reminder students who take instrument lessons need to remember to bring their instruments to school for their lessons. Mr. Stainkamp usually emails the lesson schedule on Fridays.  If you have any questions, you can email him directly.

Math

We have been working on fractions, and we are having a test on Chapter 8 next Tuesday, March 8th. We are also continuing to work on our fluency.  If the fluency sheet is taking more than 10 minutes, please let me know. It should take about 5 minutes.

ELA

We are not having any ELA tests this week. We are having a spelling test.
