Week 1 September 5, 2018
“There is no substitute for hard work.” – Thomas Edison
Welcome back to school! I hope everyone had an enjoyable summer vacation. I am looking forward to a great year with lots of learning .
This week we are going to be spending some time getting to know each other. Please make sure your child has all the required school supplies, as we will start using them right away. If there are any issues, please let me know.
Please make sure your child gets a good night sleep and eats a healthy breakfast each morning.
It’s hot in the classroom, and I encourage everyone to bring a water bottle to school.
We are going to begin taking both the ELA and Math Benchmark tests this week.
We are reading First Day Jitters on our first day because I know everyone can be a little anxious. Additionally, we are reading The Best Part of Me. Afterwards, the children will decide and write about their best parts. And on Friday, we will read Fireboat: The Heroic Adventures of the John J. Harvey. This story is about a fireboat that came out of retirement to help the NYFD pump water on 9/11.
Our special schedule this week is as follows:
Wednesday: Chapel, Physical Education, and Art
Thursday: Music
Friday: Spanish and Computer
