Welcome! Here’s a glimpse of what will be happening in second grade this week.
Reading/Language Arts
Phonics Focus will be on consonant blends with r, l, and s
Grammar Goals will be to understand singular and plural nouns
Vocabulary Strategies will include understanding meaning of base words and endings -ed, ing
Our story for this week will be Teacher’s Pets
Spelling Words: spin, clap, grade, swim, place, last, test, skin, drag, glide, just, stage, slip, climb, drive, price
There will be a Reading/Language Arts Test and a Spelling Test at the end of the week.
Math
This week Chapter 2 will be completed and a test will be given at the end of the week.
Handwriting
We will begin cursive!
Science
We will take notice of the season upon us and explore the changes happening right outside our classroom! Topics include harvest, foliage, and pumpkin life cycle.
Social Studies
We will have a midweek Social Studies Test on Lessons 1+2
Religion
We will share the Bible stories The Ten Commandments and The Golden Calf
A few announcements…
This week is Spirit Week at Trinity! Please see the handout from last week regarding optional dress for each day this week in order to participate! On Thursday we will have a classroom pumpkin celebration. Please wear orange! On Friday grades K-5 will enjoy a Harvest Party to be held at Trinity in the spirit of Halloween!
