Happy birthday to Sofie! We will be celebrating her birthday on Thursday!
There is no school next Monday, January 19, as we pay tribute to the contributions of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., to our nation. Upon our return, we will be taking the Terra Nova standardized exams schoolwide and will also have the opportunity as a class to utilize the Steam Lab.
There will be a math test on Module 10 this Wednesday and a spelling test on Thursday.
This week, we will be
- Reinforcing the importance of kindness and learning more about the ministry of Jesus in Religion
- Implementing the writing process as we complete our expository essays and beginning Unit 3 of Wonders with a focus on narrative nonfiction, how people can help out in their communities, retelling, words in context, synonyms, rhyme, blends with the long a sound, contractions, high-frequency words, decodable readers, questioning, photos and captions, action verbs, key details, and author’s purpose in ELA
- Finishing up Module 10, 2-Digit Addition and Subtraction – Counting Strategies and moving on to Module 11, Grouping Strategies, specifically to the decomposition of ones to add and subtract, in Math
- Reflecting on food producers, the value of maps, and the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., in Social Studies
- Extending our investigations of how animals survive in different habitats and by using their unique physical characteristics in Science
Specials will include Library, Art, Critters, PE, Spanish, Music, and Computer. We will be attending Chapel on Wednesday. Your child will be provided with an offering envelope on Tuesday to take home.
May our precious Lord bless our week together,
