Note from Mrs. Jones – Week of January 11

5th Grade Spanish: This week we’ll do a review of the previous vocabulary words. Using interact-a-story 1 in present tense, they will continue to practice reading and speaking using the vocabulary words: hay and 1st/2nd/3rd person of esta, es, va, dice, tener and querer. Will do a music activity

6th Grade Spanish: This week we’ll continue to read and speak using the core vocabulary verbs esta, es, va, dice, quiere and tiene. The grammar focus is on learning to speak using the 1st, 2nd, 3rd person of these verbs. I’ll be introducing the novel, Bart quiere un gato this week since we didn’t get to start it last week.

7th Grade Spanish: This week the students will continue to practice reading and creating sentences using the words: esta, es, tengo, tienes, tiene, quiero, quieres, quiere, le dice, va a. They will read the next two chapters in the novel ‘Seis Meses de Soledad‘. There will be test on Tuesday, January 20th on the core vocabulary words they’ve been practicing.

8th Grade Spanish: There will be test on Tuesday, January 20th. This week the students will review and continue to practice reading and speaking in the present tense with the core vocabulary words used in context in preparation for the test. They will also read the next two chapters in the novel ‘Seis Meses de Soledad‘.

MIDDLE SCHOOL COMPUTER CLASS
5th Grade – Finish last week’s assignment of working step by step in Google Slides to learn how to produce a professional looking presentation about a topic. They will learn how to add specific slide types to a presentation and add pictures, transitions, and animations to a presentation.

6th Grade – They will work step by step in Google Slides to learn how to produce a professional looking presentation about a topic. They will learn how to add specific slide types to a presentation and add pictures, transitions, and animations to a presentation.

7th Grade – Restaurant Entrepreneur project: Finish Assignment 1 Instructor Menu and start Assignment 2 of making a logo, if time permits.

8th Grade – Survey Questionnaire Project: Students will participate in a “Reading Habits” questionnaire. Afterwards, they analyze the results to interpret respondents’ book preferences. This is to help prepare to prepare them for the survey the will create.
