Mrs. Skoch’s Updates for the Week of October 13, 2025

Welcome back, everyone! I hope we all enjoy our three day weekend. When we get back on Tuesday, we will pick up right where we left off on Friday. Here are the updates.

6th Religion

On Tuesday, the students will take their test on Unit 1. Then, we will start studying the book of Exodus. There is no memory verse this week.

6th Social Studies

To close out our study of the civilizations of Mesopotamia, we will study the history and beliefs of Judaism, which will tie in with our religion classes. Then, we will start reviewing for the test on Topic 2. The test will be on Tuesday, October 21st. Since the phone study is beginning on Tuesday, I will also review how to scan work using the Google Classroom app on their phones and tablets. If the students do not already have that downloaded, please have them do that before Tuesday morning.

7th Religion

On Friday, we studied how God used unusual circumstances to save Moses’ life as a child, and this week we will learn about how God used him to deliver the people of Israel from slavery in Egypt. The memory verse this week is Isaiah 41:10.

7th Social Studies

On Tuesday, we will conclude reading about the victims of the Salem Witch Trials. So far the students are shocked at how the false accusations of three young girls caused such irreparable damage for so many people. The lesson to be learned through this sad moment in history is to stand up for what is right and to not allow innocent people to be targeted. Then, we will continue to study the settlement of the Middle and Southern colonies.

8th Religion

This week we will begin studying the book of Exodus. We will study the miraculous call of Moses and then the Ten Plagues God sent to help “encourage” the Egyptian pharaoh to set the Israelites free from slavery. The memory verse this week is Isaiah 41:10.

8th Social Studies

On Tuesday, the students will get to put their knowledge of industry and corporations to work as they play Monopoly. The object of the game ties in perfectly with what we have studied about people like Carnegie, Rockefeller, and J.P. Morgan. On Wednesday, we will study the other side of the business world and look at the start of the labor movement.
