Mrs. Skoch’s Updates for the Week of March 23, 2026

Welcome back to a new week at Trinity. Here are the updates for my classes.

6th Religion

In religion class this week, we will study the early days of Jesus’ ministry. We will read about how his presentation at the Temple as a baby set Him aside as the Messiah, and then we will study Jesus’ baptism and how He called the first disciples. The memory verse this week is Matthew 4:19.

6th Social Studies

The students have their test on Topic 6- Ancient Greece on Monday, March 23rd. Then, they will begin their research on Greek mythology. They will present their research through either making a poster, or creating a children’s style story book.

7th Religion

In seventh grade religion this week, we will focus on studying the Lord’s Prayer, and why Jesus used this to teach us to pray. The students will then write their version of the Lord’s Prayer. Next, we will study how Jesus went against common practices in the ancient world, and blessed children and talked about the importance of nurturing faith in children. The memory verse this week is Matthew 7:7.

7th Social Studies

In social studies this week, the students will work on researching technological advances and inventions of the mid 1800s. These projects will set the stage for Topic 7, which will show how the Industrial Revolution in the North deepened the divide between North and South, and how the nation was truly breaking apart over the issue of slavery.

8th Religion

This week we will primarily focus on the foretelling and births of John the Baptist and Jesus. The memory verse this week is Luke 2:10-11.

8th Social Studies

In social studies this week, we will begin studying the causes of World War II and how the United States joined the war. The students will start the unit by researching some of the important leaders of the time, and they will determine if the individuals should be considered heroes or villains of history. Next week, we will look at life on the Homefront and the various types of propaganda endorsed by the U.S. government.
