Mrs. Skoch’s Updates for the Week of January 19, 2026

I hope everyone had a wonderful long weekend and took the time to honor the life and legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr in some way. Here are the updates for this week.

6th Religion

This week we will study the reasons why Israel and Judah split into two kingdoms, and then we will study the prophet Elijah. There is no memory verse this week.

6th Social Studies

In social studies, we will study more about the rich cultural legacy of the Han dynasty, and then we will try our hands at learning traditional Chinese calligraphy techniques.

7th Religion

This week seventh grade will learn about the legacy of King Josiah, and then we will study the well known account of Daniel in the lion’s den. There is no memory verse this week.

7th Social Studies

In social studies, we will learn about how our nation’s two party political system came to be, and then the tumultuous friendship and administrations of John Adams and Thomas Jefferson.

8th Religion

Eighth grade religion this week will focus entirely in the time of the Babylonian captivity. We will study the fall of Judah, the significance of the book of Esther, and the many lessons to be learned from Jonah. There is no memory verse this week.

8th Social Studies

This week we will continue to study the early years of World War I- the causes, military technology and strategies, and eventually what drew the United States into the war.
