Joke of the Week: What do you call an illegally parked frog?

Language Arts- This week we will continue Unit 6 of our Wonder’s series. Our essential question is, How are the seasons different? & we will read, “Mama, Is It Summer Yet?”. We will learn a new sight words – ‘was’ and ‘he’ will focus on the long and short Uu sounds and letters Nn & Mm. We will continue to blend sounds and determine all the missing sounds in CVC words. We will also continue word families, this week we will focus on the short ‘u’ word families such as: -ut, -ug, -ub and more. We will continue to read CVC words and sight words in small groups and throughout our classwork and homework. Lastly, in grammar, we will continue learning about singular and plural nouns, Ex. duck and ducks.

Language Arts Centers- This weeks centers will be word families and sight words.

Math- This week we will complete Module 9 – and have a test on Thursday.

Math Centers- We will determine if numbers are greater or less than one another.

Jesus Time- We will continue to read about Jesus growing up and all the wonderful stories he told and miracles he preformed.

Science: This week we will dive into Mystery Science and learn about how to fix a broken heart.

Social Studies:  We are welcoming Black History Month and we will be discussing different famous African American people! We will watch a video, read the sentences in our book and color their pictures! We will learn about Jackie Robinson, and Rosa Parks, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and more!

Friday we will celebrate Valentine’s Day! If you would like to send in Valentine’s for your child to handout to the class on Friday that is more than welcomed! ALSO, Friday 2/13 will be a FREE dress down day to wear red or pink for Valentine’s Day!

The following week will begin our February Winter break from 2/16- 2/20. See you on 2/23!
