Dear Parents,

We had a fun week continuing to work on our Arctic animal crafts and learning about Groundhogs, Groundhogs day and how it is celebrated.  We will be watching the recap in our classroom and  can’t wait to find out if the Groundhog sees his shadow.   We’ll also go over our prediction chart and see who guessed right.

This coming week, the children will learn how to recognize, sound out, and write the letter G for groundhog.  We will also be celebrating black history month by learning about Mae Jemison, the first black woman in space.

We will also finish up our Arctic animal unit with a really fun science experiment showing how these animals stay nice and warm in the cold water with their layer of blubber by placing the children’s hands in a rubber glove coated with crisco and then placing it in icy cold water,

IMPORTANT DATES AND REMINDERS:

• February 6th – Trinity’s Someone Special and Me Dance. Dance starts at 7:00 PM.
• February 13th – PLEASE WEAR RED for ECC2’s Valentine’s Day Party in class. If you would like to send in goodie bags, please do not send and candy or anything edible, due to allergies. We have a total of 16 children in our class.
• February 16th through 20th – NO SCHOOL for Winter recess.
• February 23rd –  The Dentist is coming to visit us in our classroom.
