The Pre-K News: Week of March 23rd

The season of Spring has sprung!  We will discuss the changes this new season brings to our environment in class this week.  We will also explore the life cycle and needs of plants, particularly fruits and vegetables.  Towards the end of this week, we will get our hands dirty planting vegetables in our new ECC garden.

V is for vegetables!  We will learn about letter V, different types of vegetables, their importance to our bodies and discuss the health benefits of good nutrition as part of our study of “Healthy Habits.”  We will enjoy creating self – portraits in the style of the artist, Guiseppe Arcimboldo, using fruits and vegetables to collage an image of ourselves and then adding color using watercolor paint.  It should be fun to experiment with the idea, “You are what you eat.”

Our number of the week is number 20.  We will introduce the numeral twenty and begin a review of numbers one through twenty.  This is our final week observing Lent.  We will participate in a palm procession honoring Palm Sunday on Wednesday during Chapel service and continue singing our Lenten songs of praise.
