Wow! The last week of October already!
This week in the STEAM Lab, we will be doing hands-on explorations of the human skeletal system and three of the organs the system protects: the brain, the heart, and the lungs.
There will be a test on sentence types, subjects, and predicates on Wednesday. A spelling test is scheduled for Thursday and a Module 5 math test, for Friday.
This week, we will be
- Learning about Solomon, Elijah, Naaman, and Hoshea in Religion
- Reading and writing more about how families work together in ELA, including additional work with sentence formation and exploring opinion texts, plus moving into Unit 2 of our Wonders curriculum with a focus on animals, context, homographs, text features like diagrams and labels, central ideas and relevant details, decodable readers and literature anthology selections, and short and long o sounds
- Completing Module 5 in Math about reading, writing, and showing numbers to 1,000
- Obtaining information about our own families’ roots and preparing a display concerning their immigration experiences
- Growing in our appreciation of the earth’s land and water
Read-alouds will include
- Coming to America: The Story of Immigration
- The Earth and I
- Kids for the Earth
- Atlantic
Specials will include Library, Art, Critters, PE, Spanish, Music, and Computers. We will be attending Chapel on Wednesday. Your child will be provided with an offering envelope on Tuesday to take home.
