Second Grade – Week of November 24, 2025 – by Mrs. Nekota for Mrs. Ryan

Students will attend school on Monday and Tuesday only this week. There will be no homework or new spelling words. Happy Thanksgiving to you all! We are looking forward to our own schoolwide Thanksgiving Feast on Tuesday.

This week, we will be

  • Concentrating on thankfulness in Religion
  • Focusing on sequencing, responsive writing, inflectional endings, academic vocabulary, reading comprehension, rhyming, comparing and contrasting, and decoding within the context of a decodable text and two versions of the fable about a shepherd boy who called “wolf” in ELA
  • Demonstrating our knowledge of coins on a Module 7 test in Math
  • Exploring the origins of Thanksgiving and the daily lives of the Pilgrims and their friends, the Wampanoag, in Social Studies
  • Appreciating the invention of maple syrup by indigenous people in Science

Read-alouds will include a wide variety of books about Thanksgiving.

Specials will be Library and Art.

May our precious Lord bless our two days together,

Mrs. Nekota
