Wow! This Thursday marks the end of Trimester 2 at TLS! Our second-grade year is flying by!

Reminder: The forms requesting information about your child’s availability to sing at the Palm Sunday service on Sunday, March 29, at 9:00 A.M. are due by this Friday, March 13. Kindly complete and send yours in if you have not done so already. Thanks!

Each student has already completed two books of his or her eight-book goal for the Read Across America program with a display of titles read to go up at the end of the month.

There will be a spelling test and a timed addition facts test on Thursday. A test on Module 14 in Math is scheduled for Tuesday, March 17.

This week, we will be

  • Learning more about several of the parables Jesus told and His power to heal in Religion
  • Beginning Unit 4 of our Wonders curriculum with the lessons in Week 1 which focus on realistic fiction, children around the world, phoneme identification and categorization, words with silent letters, prefixes, suffixes, similes, linking verbs, comparisons, story elements, vocabulary expansion, letter format and punctuation, and decodable readers in ELA
  • Striving to memorize basic addition facts and beginning Module 14 Algebra by using drawings and equations to solve two-digit addition and subtraction problems in Math
  • Investigating the history of the American flag and finalizing our expository essays about musical instruments in Social Studies
  • Investigating diamonds, gold, and rainbows in Science

Specials will include Library, Art, SEL, PE, Spanish, Music, and Computer. We will be attending Chapel on Wednesday. Your child will be provided with an offering envelope on Tuesday to take home.
