Note from Mrs. Jones – Week of October 13th

Welcome to the 2025 – 2026 School Year. I look forward to helping the students acquire the Spanish language through reading, listening and writing.

5th Grade Spanish: This week the students will read a short text about an authentic children’s song. They will learn a short, authentic children’s song and to practice interpreting Core Vocabulary in context.

6th Grade Spanish: This week the students will continue Unit 2 of  Vamos. This week the students will interpret a short informational text, learn the meaning of new vocabulary, interpret the meaning of vocabulary in context, and respond to personalized yes/no questions in Spanish. The core vocabulary are: hace (does/makes), tiene (has), son (are), and niños (children/kids) in addition to various cognates.

7th Grade Spanish: This week the students will take a listening, start Unit 2 of Somos. They will translate simple stories, interpret new vocabulary in context, listen to a song, and co-create a story in Spanish.  The core vocabulary are: camina (walks), corre (run) and vees (sees) in addition to various cognates.

8th Grade Spanish: This week the students will take a test on Thursday for Unit 1 and 2. They will also continue to translate simple stories, interpret new vocabulary in context, listen to a song, and co-create a story in Spanish.  The core vocabulary are: camina (walks), corre (run) and vees (sees) in addition to various cognates.

MIDDLE SCHOOL COMPUTER CLASS
Students will learn about AI Chatbots: Who’s Behind the Screen?. They will learn:

  • Define what AI chatbots are and how they work.
  • Understand why AI chatbots are intentionally designed to sound like people.
  • Reflect upon the potential impacts of AI chatbots in our lives.
