Hello everyone! I hope you all enjoyed your weekend. Please continue checking their green folders for any important information and notices. This week we start curriculum. We will begin our first lessons in our Wonders Series and Into Math. I am excited for the students the routine of our lessons and know they will all do great! This Tuesday is back to school night, it starts at 7:00pm. We will go over more in depth what will be going on in first grade this year and everything you need to know for your child to succeed. Spelling – 3x each in their S books is due on Thursday and they have their first spelling test on Friday. Our spelling words this week are: man, can, tap, nap, hat, cat, not, does. You can quiz them by saying the word and them spelling it to you out loud or having them write the words down.
Math – We will begin our first module on Addition Strategies. This module has 7 lessons so I will announce here in advance when the first math test will be.
ELA – This week we will start our unit 1. We will not have a test in reading this week. Next week will start reading and spelling tests every week. This week’s story is Nat and Sam. Please read this story with your child every night. We will go over short /a/, proper sentence writing, and how to add “s” to the end of a verb if we start with he or she. Their HF words this week are: does, not, school, what. Students should be able to see these words and read them naturally.
Writing – We will write comprehension in our journals and do creative writing on Friday.
Science/ Social Studies – We will be reading “My Mouth is a Volcano” and do a science experiment. For Social Studies we will start our first lesson on citizenship, what that means, and how to be a good citizen.
Religion – We will read Isaac Blesses His Sons, Jacob’s Family, Joseph is Sold by His Brothers, Josephs Brothers Go to Egypt,
