Hi everyone! I hope you had a nice weekend. Please check their green folders for any important notices or information. Below is all the information for the week regarding our reading curriculum and our social studies at home project. Please bring back their library books on Monday so they can exchange it for a new book. 

Spelling – 3x each or ABC order is due on Wednesday. Our spelling test is on Friday and our new spelling words this week are:

Math – We will finish module 8 on Monday and review on Tuesday. Our module 8 test will be on Wednesday the 4th. Then, we will start module 9, Place Value.

ELA – Our reading test is on Thursday. This weeks story is “Little Rabbit: A Tale from India”. This week we will start vowel teams. This week is /ai/ and /ay. /ai/ will be in the middle and /ay/ is at the end. We will also learn about ABC order when we have words that begin with the same letter. When we see that we look at the second letter. We will also start our vocabulary. Our two words are special – something unique or not like other things and splendid – wonderful. Our HF words this week are: about, animal, carry, eight, give, our

Writing – We will do a writing craft about what or who we love. We will also write about how we can be a good friend through a Valentines craft.

Social Studies – This month is Black History Month. We will go over many historic black figures. Each child will be assigned a person and need to fill out a research sheet on them at home. We will also be doing a craft that expands their knowledge on their assigned person. Every year the kids are excited for this project because they get to all learn from each other.

Religion – We will be learning about the story, “Jesus is Born” in our religion books.
